alt_billI've met with McGillicuddy and gone over the list of potions ingredients that you mentioned, Sirius. Polyjuice is the obvious thing that springs to mind with a few of 'em, but he, too, thinks that there might be more than one potion whoever is taking the stuff might be trying to create.
The Re'em blood, now...he says that there have been a flurry of papers published in the professional journals in the past year or two discussing its use in some particularly Dark potions. He tried to explain some of the more arcane theories, but I must admit, it got a bit too advanced for me to follow him. Most of the research seems to be investigating states of consciousness, and specifically, nightmares.
I asked if he had any ideas. He didn't, which was frustrating, but he asked me to pass along if you hear of any other thefts. Perhaps if we learn of other ingredients, he'll be able to put the pieces together.
What do you make of that? Poppy, any other thoughts? What does Pomona think? I suppose if Snape spent twelve years among the Dementors, he might have a few nightmares he's like to banish. He was supposed to be dead clever at Potions when he was at Hogwarts, I've heard.
Frank and Alice, you should also pass along the list to Stephen. He might have some ideas, too.
