Report on our meeting with the goblins today. Charlie and I were as bleary-eyed as the rest of you, but we managed to arrive to the meeting in time, and so we didn't cause any offence with impolite tardiness, would could have scuttled things immediately. It's a big concession for the goblins to agree to meet with us outside the environs of the Bank itself, but they apparently understand the security necessity. (It certainly helps that Bellatrix, our chief opponent in the negotiations, hasn't done a bloody thing to endear herself to them. So I think they're already a bit more flexible than usual. Uncharacteristically.) The meeting was short, but we received a strong signal that Montague's tip was good. Once I informed them, with all the proper formalities, that we were representing the true Heir to the treasury, the goblins conferred with each other briefly and then told us to come back tomorrow. If they weren't willing to consider our application, they would have simply ended the meeting, or told us to come back in two days. But since they told us to come back tomorrow, Charlie and I believe that means they intend to draw lots to select Elders to act as the Advocate and the Objector for the Argument.

At least it looks now as if we will have an Argument. This is an extremely hopeful sign.

Once things get rolling, they should give us an indication of whether they're more open to accepting Hermione or Draco, and once they do, they'll inform us what bonafides they want us to produce.

If it comes to the point that either Hermione or Draco is accepted by the goblins as the Heir, I think the news shouldn't come from me or Charlie, but rather from one of you, yes?
